About Sarah

Sarah is the newest member of Spark LLP.

Sarah found her way back to private practice after a two-year stint as General Counsel for a protective services company.

Sarah began her career as a litigator when Jeff walked into the student office in her first week as a summer student. He was co-counsel on a trial with Jacqueline and needed assistance. Sarah volunteered without hesitation. The team was successful at trial, and Sarah also helped with the (successful!) appeal when she came back for her articles.

After Gardiner Roberts LLP, Sarah went on to work at Baker & McKenzie’s Toronto office where she fine-tuned her legal skills with a diverse commercial litigation practice, acting for both domestic and foreign clients in industries such as banking, mining, and technology.

As in-house counsel, Sarah developed the ability to recognise risk and stop problems before they happened. She worked with the business team to determine what level of risk was acceptable. Sarah also managed external lawyers for the Company and is therefore mindful of legal fees and budgets.

Having experience both in-house and in private practice, Sarah appreciates the realities of providing legal advice to her clients.

Sarah maintains a diverse commercial litigation practice and provides advice in the context of contractual disputes, professional liability matters, class actions, shareholder disputes, cyber security, and bankruptcy and insolvency proceedings.

A proud Torontonian, Sarah thoroughly enjoys everything the City has to offer. She has been a Toronto Raptors fan since their first season and remembers attending games at the Sky Dome when she was in grade 5.  She has endless facts about Spark LLP’s historic office space and is thrilled to be working with a great team in such a cool building!
